Jan. 7, 8 & 9

Since the temp is only going to be in the mid-70’s today, we decided to go to the beach. When it’s in the 80’s, it gets too hot for us at the beach, unless there is a good breeze. So Linda packed a lunch, and we went to Ft. Myer’s Beach at Bowditch Park. The wind is out of the east and it is sunny, so on the beach it was warm, but not hot. I took lots of pictures, and if you don’t get an email of them, and you want to see them, just let me know. Lots of osprey around, not as many other water birds. Lots of people and lots of boats. Stayed from about 11 to 3, very nice day.

Last night was pretty cool, in the low 50’s. Inland, it was in the 40’s. But it warms up quickly when the sun comes up. We love it when the temp is in the low 70’s, but the normal high temp is 75 and low of 55. The record high is 85. So it always goes like this - a front comes through, it’s in the low 70’s for a day or two, then in the mid-to-upper 70’s for several days, then in the low 80’s for a day or two, then another front comes through. Of course, there are variations from that, but not so much.
We haven’t been to a movie for a long time, so we went to see “Australia”. The critics didn’t like it, but we thought it was terrific. It’s long, but the story was good, the acting was good, and the scenery was good. After the movie, we stopped at Baskin & Robbins just down the street for sundaes. Walked in the park at dusk for exercise.

Yesterday was the warmest day so far, 83, and last night was the warmest night, 62. Today is very warm and humid, but with two fans going we still have not started the AC. Tomorrow’s high is predicted to be 71, after a front comes through late today. We might even get a thunderstorm. We went to Lakes Park again this morning early to walk for exercise - about 2 miles. Didn’t take the camera, so of course we had two good shots - one of blue-gray fly-catchers and one of a bright red cardinal in a dark green bush. After walking, stopped at Perkins for coffee and a shared muffin. Home for light lunch. Great news! We got the refrigerator fixed! Linda is excited - we went shopping late afternoon and got things that we can keep frozen!
