March 9
Went for short bike ride, got the paper. We washed the outside of the 5th wheel. I had done part of it before, but finally today, we finished the job. It needed it. Lunch here, relaxed, read. After supper, we went for a walk to the Baskins & Robbins for ice cream.
Weather here for the next 5 days is warm - 83 or 84 highs, 60 or 61 lows. We haven’t run the air conditioner yet, but this may be the week we will. So far, we turn on just the fan on the A.C., and we use a small floor fan. This has been enough to keep us comfortable, along with the small exhaust fan in the bathroom. We also go somewhere almost every day, so we aren’t in the 5th wheel during the hottest part of the day. By the way, as soon as it starts to get in the 80’s, stores turn up the A.C. so much that I never wear short sleeves, shorts, and sandals if we go shopping to to the movies. If I do, I end up freezing, so I don’t dress like the typical FL tourist.
March 8
We did our usual Sun. morning thing - Starbucks for coffee and treat, read newspaper there, go to church. Home for lunch, Linda did the wash, Bob read and did internet. Late afternoon, went to Coconut Point to the book store, soup & sandwich at Panera Bread.
Diane called with the bad news that our basement had about an inch of water in it. It has rained some, and because the ground is frozen, it is not soaking in. We have a sump pump in the crawl space, which is a foot lower than the basement floor, but the float that turns it on rusted off. I feel very glad Diane was checking and caught it before it got too bad. I feel bad that she has to be the one responsible to pump out the excess water, clean up the mess, call a plumber to fix the sump pump, and set up fans to dry the basement. We owe her and her friend, Doug, a HUGE favor. Hopefully it won‘t become more of a problem and will get dried out quickly.
