Jan. 16
Went over to the Hilton and had breakfast with Tom & Pat before they left to go back to NC. They had talked to Amber, their daughter, and she said it was really cold at home, even into single digits at night. Lunch here, then spent most of the afternoon at the library. Went to Starbucks at Miromar mall, had light supper.

Linda packed a lunch, and we took Tom and Pat to Corkscrew Swamp. Overcast and cool, and Tom was not feeling the best, but we spent the afternoon walking and looking. At first, we saw NO birds at all, but eventually got into a flock of songbirds. Then a red-shouldered hawk landed about 10 feet from the boardwalk and just posed there for several minutes. At the ponds, we saw many waterbirds, one large alligator, and one small alligator. Came back and ate supper at Skip One seafood restaurant - had very good fish, scallops and shrimp.

We took Tom, Pat, and Spring to Sanibel Island. Went to Lighthouse Beach briefly because a chilly wind from the east made it unpleasant. Ate lunch at the Island Cow, then to Bowman Beach. Spent a lot of time walking, looking for shells, looking at the plants, and looking at the waves. It was much more pleasant on this side of the island. Then spent the rest of the afternoon looking at birds in ‘Ding’Darling Preserve. Got the best pictures of Roseate Spoonbills we have ever had. Spring left for Ft. Lauderdale, and Tom & Pat ate light supper here at the 5th wheel.
