Woke up to rain on the roof, and it was cloudy and sprinkling most of the day. By late afternoon, it was a steady rain. This is a good thing, because it is very dry here. The normal rainfall in Jan. is 2.3 inches, but they have only had about .3 inches. In the a.m., we read, watched Good Morning America, and worked on the internet. After lunch, we went to Bonita Springs to see the movie “Doubt”. It was very good, with Hoffman and Streep (the priest and the nun) giving award-winning performances. Stopped near the theatre at an European coffee shop - interesting. Coffee is served on a small silver platter, with a small glass of sparkling water and a small chocolate. And the price is $1.50 with free refills. When we were in Europe, the cost of coffee was sometimes $5, and there was never any free refills! Home for lite supper.

We did our usual Sunday trip to Starbucks and then to church. Because it was my birthday, we went out to eat at Outback Steakhouse at Gulfcoast Mall. We have been eating so much seafood, we were both ready for a steak. After lunch, we walked around the mall a little. Then we spent some time at the bookstore. Then home to relax, read the paper, read our books. Bob went for a bike ride, and Linda went for a walk. After supper, watched the super bowl (until I fell asleep on the couch!).
From the paper:
Federal and state fishery managers have closed recreational fishing for gag groupers for the next two months (until the end of March) to stop over-fishing. Gag grouper are being caught at a rate that cannot be sustained. Commercial closure is the same as last year, from Feb. 15 to March 15. The most opposition to the two month recreational ban comes from southwest Florida charter boat captains, because it impacts their business.
