Feb. 26
For lunch, we went to The Firepit, a new restaurant at Gulf Coast Mall. It has a Mediterranean look, and it features many types of flatbread items. I had a hamburger, which was grilled on an open flame, and was very good. Linda had a shrimp-with-pineapple-salsa-on-flatbread, which also was very tasty. After lunch, Linda shopped (and found a round table for our patio), and I read and relaxed at the book store. When she came back, we had coffee and a snack there. I like these big bookstores that have soft chairs for you to sit and read, and also have a coffee shop built in. Home for lite supper.
FROM THE PAPER:
For southwest FL, this year’s dry season is shaping up to be drier than normal. For Nov. - 3 weeks of Feb., there has been 2.08 inches of rain. The 30 year average for that time period is 8.23 inches. January was especially dry, with only 9% of the usual rainfall. The area is only halfway through the dry season, and the forecast is for drier than normal. Some wildfires have already broken out in southwest FL, and water levels in the aquifers are dropping. Water managers have issued requests to get people conserving now.
