Feb. 28
Went for a long bike ride this morning and found a good place to fish upstream on the canal. There is a dam that is at the end of a dead end street, with easy access to fish. The water is deeper there, and with the water coming over the dam, the water is oxygenated. I saw big schools of minnows and three huge bass near a weed edge, so now I’m excited!
We went to lunch at The Sandy Parrot, a new place a few blocks south of us. They have an open-air covered tiki bar area with a nice waterfall, plus an indoor bar and seating area. Very nice, and the food was good. After lunch, we went to the movie to see Pink Panther 2. It’s very funny, but sometimes almost too silly. It sure was a break from the serious movies we have been seeing, like The Reader! After the movie, we went to the Borders store, but not for a book - just coffee and a treat. Home for very lite supper.
FROM THE PAPER: [Too many people have too much money, part 2.]
(A realtor) recently sold a 1.41 acre lot in Old Naples for nearly $11 million. [I wonder what the commission is on that sale?] She said the lot sold within 30 days of its listing. The original asking price was $17 million. In December, a single-family beachfront lot sold for $6.65 million. The president of the Naples Board of Realtors said his organization has seen high-end homes and lots (over $300,000) continuing to sell, despite the tough economic times. The realtor said she continues to see sales in Naples, and she said that market area “is on fire right now. The high-end market is doing very well.”

Went for a bike ride, got the paper, relaxing morning reading and working on the internet. After lunch, went to the library, then to Starbucks at Miromar Mall, home for supper out on the patio on the new small round table. Every day is warm now, into the low 80’s. Sunday a front is supposed to come through, with highs in the 60’s early next week.
