March 2
Very cool this morning, in the 40’s. The temperature changes are supposed to follow the usual pattern - in the 60’s for the next two days, then in the 70’s for the two days after that, and by Friday back into the 80’s. That’s the way it usually goes, but Jan. this year had some longer 60 degree periods. My brother, who lives near Asheville, NC, said they got 6 inches of snow yesterday, and today it’s drifting because of the high winds. That is almost unheard of for them.
We went to Perkins for a mid-morning snack and coffee, and then to WalMart. Stopped for lunch at Dairy Queen. All three of those stores are in the same shopping center area. I went for a long cool bike ride, Linda walked around park. Lite supper here.
FROM THE PAPER:
Florida has hundreds of miles of sandy beaches, and the current statute states that development should not interfere with the right to public access “unless a comparable alternate access way is provided.” The Florida Surfrider Foundation has spearheaded a movement to clarify the law. Two bills have been introduced in the legislature that makes it against the law to obstruct beach access through any means. Some private communities are concerned that the broadness of the bills will allow the right to go over private land to get to the beach. Some of these communities do not have public access within them, just access for their residents. They may have access points on either side of their community, and you can walk up and down the beach from them. The state controls all of the property below the high tide line. That means anyone can walk along the water’s edge without fear of trespass.

March 1
When I got up this morning, it was warm and humid. Went for a long bike ride (an hour), and when I got back, I was really sweating. So took a shower and dressed for church in short sleeves. We went to Starbucks at 9:45, got coffee and a treat and a newspaper.
Then about 10:30 the front came through. It rained, but only about 20 drops (isn’t that how it goes when you are in a drought). The wind picked up a lot, and there was blowing sand everywhere. It looks like snow when it’s creeping across the road. Then the temperature dropped a bunch, so when we came out of church, I needed a long sleeve shirt on, and maybe even a sweater! Home for lunch, then mid-afternoon we went to the Gulf Coast mall for a snack and coffee. Also, I wanted to use my computer there because the WIFI at the RV park was not working. That happened once before, but it came back on after a day or so. While at the mall, I got a few emails, and then something happened there so that I had no WIFI at all. I was afraid my computer was broke. We came back home, and I turned it off and restarted completely. Then everything was fine, and I could send and receive. It’s a shame, but I feel lost when I can’t get online! Is that a sickness, an addiction, or just a habit that you get used to?
